Setting Up Exchange/ActiveSync on a Mobile Device

There are two ways to set up email on your phone and tablet: a standard IMAP account or ActiveSync (Exchange-like) synchronization. For your Gelecek İnternet account, the recommended method that works smoothly is the IMAP setup; because your mail stays on the server, it stays in sync between your phone, computer, and webmail.

Setup on Android (IMAP):

  1. Follow Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Personal (IMAP), or in the Gmail app choose Add another account > Other.
  2. Enter your full email address, choose Manual Setup, and select IMAP as the account type.
  3. Enter your password and type the server details below.

Setup on iPhone / iPad (IMAP):

  1. Follow Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add Account > Other.
  2. Choose Add Mail Account and enter your name, email, and password.
  3. On the IMAP tab, fill in the incoming and outgoing server details as below.
Incoming (IMAP)mail.gelecekint.com, port 143, SSL off
Outgoing (SMTP)mail.gelecekint.com, port 587, SSL off, authentication on
UsernameYour full email address

About ActiveSync/Exchange: Even though an "Exchange" option appears on your phone, standard hosting accounts work with IMAP rather than push-based ActiveSync. If you try the "Exchange" option and it asks for a server, you still have to type mail.gelecekint.com; however, the "Other / IMAP" path gives the most stable result. For calendar and contact synchronization, we recommend completing the IMAP mail setup and managing the calendar separately over webmail.

Tips: Since encryption is off, the phone may show a security warning; continue anyway. If mail is not being fetched over mobile data, check that ports 143 and 587 are not blocked by your carrier; if the problem persists, try over Wi-Fi. After setup is complete, send and receive a test mail to yourself. If you get stuck, write to destek@gelecekint.com stating your device model.
