An alias lets you define a second email address for your existing mailbox without opening a new mailbox. For example, while your real mailbox is ahmet@yourcompany.com, mail sent to satis@yourcompany.com also lands in the same mailbox. This way you manage several addresses by following a single mailbox, without using extra storage.

When is an alias used?

• To connect a department address (info@, muhasebe@) to your personal mailbox.
• To collect two spellings of the same person, such as firstname.lastname@ and abbreviation@, in a single mailbox.
• To use a separate address for a campaign or form while seeing its mail in your existing mailbox.

Creating an alias via cPanel:

1. Log in to cPanel and go to Email > Forwarders.
2. Click Add Forwarder.
3. Type the address you want to use as the alias (e.g. satis).
4. Select the domain.
5. In the "Forward to email address" field, enter your real mailbox (ahmet@yourcompany.com).
6. Click Add Forwarder. From now on every mail sent to satis@ automatically lands in the ahmet@ mailbox.

Sending mail from the alias: An alias only collects incoming mail; to send mail from the alias address you need to define a second identity in your email program.

1. In webmail, follow Settings > Identities > Add Identity.
2. In the email field, type the alias address (satis@yourcompany.com).
3. Save it. When composing mail you can select this address from the "from" field.
4. Sending is still done over mail.gelecekint.com SMTP 587, using your real mailbox's username and password.

Difference between an alias and a real mailbox: An alias has no password or storage of its own; it is just a forward. If you want the address to be managed with an independent password by a separate person, you should create a real mailbox, not an alias.
