Backing Up Your Website (cPanel)

Regular backups are the safest way to quickly restore your site after an error, an attack, or a bad update. Even though backups are taken on the server side, keep a copy of your own.

Full backup:

  1. In cPanel, open the Backup tool.
  2. Under Download a Full Account Backup, select Home Directory as the destination.
  3. Enter your email address and click Generate Backup.
  4. When it's ready, download the .tar.gz file and store it somewhere safe.

You can also back up the home directory, the MySQL database (where the content of dynamic sites lives), and the email configuration separately. Recommendation: take a backup before any major change or migration, keep backups off the server as well, and occasionally do a test restore. A restore done incorrectly can overwrite your data; if you're not sure, email destek@gelecekint.com.
